Meet Amaterasu

At around four and a half weeks old, I now know what colour pup will become Amaterasu. Also something about a rock cave.

This morning, 16 November, I got a message from the breeder that the pink-collared pup has been assigned to me. The lovely photo above was taken on 11 November.

The breeder describes her as brave, but she prefers to watch things unfold first. She is also reserved around young children, so if needed, that will be an extra focus during socialisation. All I ask of her is to be neutral towards them. I will have to ask for more details from the breeder, and assess this myself once she moves in with me.

Having a puppy that 'asks questions' first before acting will have a nice basis to be taught to look up to me for guidance.

With almost everything I needed to buy for her present, a nice crate for in the living room and one for the car being the latest additions, my home is ready for her arrival. Speaking of dens...

Amano-Iwato

As mentioned briefly in a previous post, in the mythology, Amaterasu hid in a cave, after being disgusted by an action of her brother Susanoo. Throwing a flayed horse into her weaving hall, causing the death of a weaving attendant in the process would disgust anyone, I would wager.
The cave that she hid in was called Amano-Iwato (天の岩戸, Heaven's Rock Cave). Only after some trickery from the other gods would Amaterasu emerge from the cave, restoring light to the world once again.

It felt fiting to call Tera's crate after that cave. The difference being that this den is open enough for her brilliant light to shine through. And I hereby vow to her that I will never allow anybody to hurl a flayed horse through my window. Windows are pricey and I don't have the freezer space for a whole horse.

What type of crate do you use? Am I the only one that thinks it's fun to give these types of things a name? Let me know!
